Pondering Kathy’s crafty questions

After pondering deeply (between naps) I have come up with these answers:

  1. I started this blog because my Writer Bear, Mawson, has his own blog . He is a bear of generous proportions and it was getting a bit squishy to also fit Me in there.  I am Mark, his cushion-arranger, chocolate-fetcher and Guardian. So on this blog, Baffled Bear Books, I talk about books and other matters that a bear would probably find baffling.
  2. A new skill to learn: better camera work especially with portraits. Also monochromes.
  3. Ah, the hoary favourite movie question. This changes so often. My latest fav was Ladies in Black.
  4. Beverages: This guardian drinks three beverages. Coffee black, black coffee, and coffee that is black.
  5. Comfort food: When not fetching chocolates for Mawson, and even when fetching them, I have been known to eat most of them myself. Dark chocolate that is. Also, chocolate that is dark. With chocolate in it.
  6. A destination. Having been so fortunate as to see most of Australia and New Zealand, some of South America, Bali and Lombok,a little of southern England, and quite a lot of Spain, goodness me, what would I like to see now? I have a yearning to see Wales and Ireland. And Greece.
  7. I would like people who read my reviews of books to consider widening their reading from the same-old-same-old books that crowd out most book stores out to some of the exciting and talented new authors brightening our universe today.
  8. Seven favourite books: I stumbled into Narnia when not a single other person around me knew about it. I saved up my paper run money to buy each book and read all seven almost every year. I was in my forties when I glumly realised, as I put the last one down, that I had at last met the same fate as Susan – I could not really go back there any more. But Narnia is always there just the same.
  9. Favourite season– winter. In Perth, Australia, where I live, the weather is often fine and clear even in winter, and not broiling, as it can be in summer.
  10. My favourite biscuit – we Australians and Kiwis of a certain vintage still say ‘biscuit’ – is shortbread. Many a coffee shop has a distressing tendancy to not stock shortbread but by great good fortune most do have carrot cake. This is not a biscuit, I know, but it will suffice in emergencies.
  11. My resolution: to have three books of Mawson’s published by the end of this year.
